Erik Aksland has gained entrepreneurial insight at Augustana

2015 Aug 10

The EDGE Center, which is short for Entrepreneurial Development through Guided Experiences, connects students with community organizations in need of communications, marketing and creative services, including web design.

Working with the EDGE Center, both students and organizations gain a professional edge. For students, the valuable experience and a portfolio collection of their significant work can set them apart when applying for jobs or graduate schools. For their business clients, the low-cost, high-quality communications, marketing and management assets give them an edge over competitors.

Erik Aksland a recent graduate from Libertyville, IL has recently worked in the EDGE Center.

Augustana is positioned to appeal to the sharp increase in market demand for entrepreneurial opportunities as part of a student's college experience. A combination of factors including the economic recession, increased news coverage of entrepreneurship and a rapidly-changing job market all have contributed to the importance of these offerings. Add to that the market focus on having demonstrable skills at graduation has made entrepreneurship more relevant.

To learn more about the EDGE Center's practical benefits from a student perspective be sure to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2AOwQVkU2E.

The EDGE Center is a part of CORE, Augustana's initiative focused on preparing students for life after college, which offers student-centered learning experiences that help students discover their purpose and passions, and connect them to their career aspirations. Helping students develop entrepreneurial skills through the EDGE Center is just one part of what CORE has to offer. Interested in finding out what CORE can do for you?
