Kailey Falcon recognized for award-winning essay

2014 Apr 25

The Augustana College Center for the Study of Ethics annually holds a ethics essay contest. Three students are chosen to receive top honors and cash awards, and recognition is also given for honorable mention.

Among the students who received this recognition was Kailey Falcon, a senior majoring in communication sciences and disorders, from Aurora.

A total of 37 papers were submitted for review, and the winners were selected by an outside evaluator who is an expert in the field of ethics.

Dr. Lee noted the evaluator was "very impressed with the quality of the papers" submitted and found identifying five of them for recognition a very challenging task.

Dr. Lee said, "Both as individuals and as an institution, we are very proud of the work that Augustana students do. That is part of what makes Augustana such a great place to teach and to learn."

Founded in 1860, Augustana College is a selective four-year residential college of the liberal arts and sciences. The college is recognized for the innovative program Augie Choice, which provides each student up to $2,000 to pursue a high-impact learning experience such as study abroad, an internship or research with a professor. Current students and alumni include 149 Academic All-Americans, a Nobel laureate, 13 college presidents and other distinguished leaders. The college enrolls 2,500 students and is located along one of the world's most important waterways, the Mississippi River, in a community that reflects the diversity of the United States.
