Augustana College

Fourteen Augustana College juniors have been selected for the Texas Medical Center Summer Research Internship Program. The students were selected to take part in the paid, full-time, 10-week experience at the Texas Medical Center in Houston this summer.

The Augustana College Department of Music presented Christmas at Augustana on Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, 2024. More than 200 student musicians took the stage to share their talents in what has become a highlight of the Augustana and Quad-Cities holiday season. Presented by Quad City Bank & Trust, Christmas at Augustana has thrilled audiences since 2008. The performance features the Augustana Brass Ensemble, Augustana Symphony Orchestra, Ascension Ringers, Augustana Choir, Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble and Augustana Concert Chorale.

Augustana College student members of the Augustana Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra performed a fall concert Oct. 12 at Centennial Hall.

Augustana College students were selected this year to serve as Student Government Association senators for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Twenty-eight students joined the second cohort of the Brenda Barnes Leadership Academy. The BBLA is a program geared toward providing mentorship and leadership development for high-achieving, first year female students.

Seventeen Augustana College student research assistants are assisting with the inventory of water service lines in the village of Port Byron, Ill.

Along with geology professors Dr. Michael Wolf and Dr. Jenny Arkle, Augustana seniors conducted baseline video surveys of the reefs to monitor coral disease and decline in Bonaire.

Augustana College announced more than 1,100 students were named to the Dean's List for the 2023-2024 spring semester. Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a four-point scale for courses taken during the term.

More than 15 Augustana College students will serve as Student Government Association senators for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Eighty-one Augustana College students were recognized at the Office of Career Development and Vocation's annual Viking Score Banquet on May 8.

Forty-six students at Augustana College recently were inducted into the college's Zeta of Illinois chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. This national academic honor society recognizes scholarly achievement, character, integrity and independence of mind. Members are elected by faculty. Election is less a reward for past success than a recognition of exceptional promise for future growth and achievement.
